This year the Easter Bunny has been declared as an “essential service” during the COVID-19 outbreak. We all enjoy a good Easter egg hunt and this essential service no doubt will bring joy into many homes. Perhaps this year you would also consider making someone else essential during this COVID-19 outbreak?

At Easter, the real reason to celebrate is that Jesus Christ died, giving his life by being crucified upon a wooden cross. His body was laid in a sealed tomb, and three days later he rose from the dead and is alive forevermore.

In the Bible, the apostle Paul gives a clear message in his letter to the Romans. He says “ Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4). You may ask how we can walk in this newness of life? Paul gives the answer in Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith.” By putting your faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ you will walk in newness of life for all eternity.

This Easter please consider the real reason for the season.

Christ has triumphed over death.
The tomb is empty.
Jesus is alive.

This is why we gather together and in accordance with the Lord’s command, we should tell the world of this glorious event. We shout out to you in joy “Christ is risen!” and pray your response will be “He is risen indeed!”
